Safe Routes to School

Walking and biking safely are the healthiest ways to get to school. The Safe Routes to School program encourages all children, including those with disabilities, to walk and bike to school.

These activities increase children's physical activity and foster bonds with parents and caregivers who accompany the children to school. The program improves safety, and reduces traffic, fuel consumption, and air pollution in the area around participating schools.

Schools involved in the program for the 2011-2012 school year are: Bedichek Middle, Kealing Middle, Odom Elementary, Pickle Elementary, St. Elmo Elementary, and Wooldridge Elementary.
