The Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will take place Monday, January 16, 2012, and will include both a march and festival. The march will take place roughly from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants will be led by police escort and may create traffic delays along the event route.

The festival will take place at Huston-Tillotson University and road closures will be in effect between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Chalmers Avenue between East 11th and East 7th streets, and East 8th Street between Conchos Street and Chalmers Avenue.
