The City’s Music Division and Office of Special Events are partnering with the music community to co-host this open house.
Participating venue owners and concert promoters planning indoor or outdoor SXSW events can expect to learn more about permitting, temporary events, amplified sound and other information for creating safer, successful SXSW events. The open house is free to the public.
The City recently announced changes to its application process for SXSW 24-hour and multi-day sound permit applications.
The event is an informational session to help make the change in the sound permitting process easier on participants. Austin Music People, a nonprofit music organization aimed to protect and grow Austin’s music culture; Texas Bar & Nightclub Alliance, helps Texas’ bars Dand nightclubs by providing relevant political and legal information to its membership, helped coordinate the open house event.
Additional participating city departments include Austin’s Fire, Police, Transportation and Planning and Review departments.
